Prescribing Provider Survey for Texas’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Available Now

Last updated on

This article has been updated. To view the updated information, see Update to “Prescribing Provider Survey for Texas’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Available Now”.

A provider survey created by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will assist HHSC in gathering the required data needed to report on Texas's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) usage and meet federal reporting requirements. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) now requires Medicaid to report data about prescribing providers' use of the PDMP before prescribing controlled substances. Texas Medicaid obtains this information from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy but does not have access to the PDMP data.

The due date for prescribing providers to submit their surveys is April 30, 2024. The survey will be made available across multiple platforms. HHSC will collect and analyze the responses.

Note: The annual CMS Drug Utilization Review Survey contains a new, required section of responses related to the PDMP. This year's survey is for data from Federal Fiscal Year 2023 (October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023).
